Unfortunately for the sold out crowd of Thunder fans, both Westbrook and Dion Waiters missed potential game-tying shot attempts, and the Knicks escaped from Oklahoma City with a narrow win.
“I gave our guys a lot of credit as far as hanging in there”, Thunder coach Billy Donovan said.
“The difference in the game was the three-point line”.
Carmelo then empathized with Durant, who is trying to get back healthy and chase his first title while free agency talk lingers over him – a similar situation to what Anthony faced during his Denver days. “No KD out there”. And you don’t know if he is going to keep driving or put up a three. “We did the best we could”.
Waiters added 16 points for the Thunder, who shot 38 percent. However, Westbrook hit a jumper and three-pointer to cut the Thunder’s deficit to three.
It was originally called a flagrant foul on Afflalo, but the refs reviewed it and called it a common foul. Westbrook made both free throws to cut New York’s lead to 89-85. Westbrook missed from beyond the arc and the ball bounced into the backcourt. It’s just more reps and being in that situation and guys feeling more comfortable out there.
“Come on man, he just got into the (Oklahoma) Hall of Fame”, Anthony told the NY Daily News. “And hopefully, we’ll be here next year for Russell Westbrook’s induction”. The Knicks shot 12-for-20 from three. The starters sank 23 of 66….

They went into Chesapeake Arena and outplayed the Thunder, surviving a late rally to escape with a 93-90 victory, giving the Knicks their third straight win as they moved to 7-6 on the season.
