Flames edge Hawks in OT, 2-1
The Blackhawks look to complete the Alberta sweep with a win in Calgary on Friday while the Flames desperately need to get rolling in the right direction.
The Blackhawks have earned at least a point in each of their last 10 games against the Flames (7-0-3).
Artem Anisimov scored his eighth for Chicago.
After twenty games into the regular season, Western Conference members Calgary Flames, are now holding one of the last positions in the overall standings just above the Oilers by two points and seventy-four goals against, basically the most amongst the group.
The overtime was dominated by the Flames, who finally solved Scott Darling on their sixth shot of the extra period when Gaudreau collected his own rebound after a Chicago turnover and made a nifty deke to produce the victor. Head coach Joel Quenneville told reporters Friday that Dano may be able to return to action Saturday evening against Vancouver if he’s feeling better. “The past couple games, I’ve noticed our back end is keeping pucks in the offensive zone, having a few zone time, and we’re helping our forwards on the forecheck. You can’t give it away once, let alone four [times]”.
Calgary played much better on this night, outshooting the Blackhawks 37-19. They’re probably on good terms, even though Bollig plays for the Calgary Flames now. They create a lot of offence. “But, you know, we can be better”.
If not for Darling, the Blackhawks probably lose this game in regulation. “Johnny Hockey” absolutely embarrassed the whole damn Blackhawks team for all during his time on the ice in overtime.
Keith’s presence adds to a group that is led by Patrick Kane, whose 30 points topped the league through Wednesday and boasts at least one in 14 consecutive games. “He played great and kept us in the game”. For the second straight game, the Hawks were outplayed by a poor team. Only this time, they left with one point instead of two.
“It’s definitely not frustrating to get three out of four”, Darling said. Calgary has a ton of young talent on their roster and are set for a few very competitive teams over the next handful of years but we could be seeing a bit of a regression before moving forward as the Flames overachieved last season and while they aren’t as bad as they have been lately they should be around the. “I’m starting to settle down here and I think it’s been good so far”.
