Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio Bound for auto Dealers Next Summer
So here’s what we now know about the 2017 Giulia Quadrifoglio which is meant to take on heavyweights such as the BMW M3 and Mercededes-Benz C63. If you’re less hands-on, an automatic with paddle shifters will be available.
Both really extraordinary cars, but so hard to choose. All-wheel-drive will be an option. It has a carbon fiber roof, hood, driveshaft, and front seats, with aluminum a big piece of the rest of the construction. A 7-inch driver display is joined with a 3D Navigation system on the 8.8-inch widescreen display in the center stack. Protecting the rotors from getting too much direct sunlight will be 19-inch wheels, 8.5 inches wide up front, 10 in the rear. By using a twin-clutch rear differential, the Giulia Quadrifoglio optimizes torque delivery to each wheel separately for improved power delivery, traction and control on all types of road surfaces, without cutting power like traditional systems.
The 4C drives so well that it’s been called a “Ferrari for half the price”, which gives you an idea of what Alfa Romeo is aspiring to be in its second go-around stateside. Aluminum front and rear vehicle frames, front shock towers, brakes, suspension components, doors and fenders also help shed weight compared to conventional steel.
What I mean by that is Alfa isn’t known for making supercars or hard-core mid-engined sports cars. While German cars in this segment are all quite safe and refined, the Giulia is pure excitement and emotion.
Edmunds says: Alfa’s return to the USA market hinges on the success of the Giulia.
“Like the sweet spot of a tennis racket, the 1962 to 1970 Giulias are considered the sweet spot in Alfas for the vast majority of us”, Berens said.
Brian Leon The worst thing about this Italian beauty is how long we have to wait to get our hands on it.
As our conversation came to an end, Berens conceded that there is one thing the new Giulia has over earlier Alfas.
