Disney Announces Live-Action Prequel For “Aladdin”
The news is tinged with some sadness though, as Robin Williams, who gave life to the original Genie character in the animated film, tragically passed away nearly a year ago.
There are no concrete plans as of now, but the hope is that this film will lead to an Aladdin live-action movie.
Disney has found great success going into live-action and reworking some of their classic Disney movies.
It’s now been confirmed there is also a prequel to the 1992 classic Aladdin in the pipeline, entitled Genies.
Disney is developing a live-action prequel of “Aladdin“.
The prequel will explore the world of genies, and reveal how Genie ended up trapped in a lamp in a hidden magical cave.
“Aladdin” is a centuries-old Arabic folk tale that got the animated treatment in 1992, with Robin Williams voicing the Genie character.
