Practice report: Darren McFadden limited with a groin injury
Dallas Cowboys running back Darren McFadden was added to the team’s injury report on Thursday because of a groin injury, according to beat writer Brandon George.
McFadden came to Dallas as a free agent back in March, and won the starting job on the back of a 29-carry, 152-yard performance against the Giants back on October 25.
With McFadden limited, the Cowboys have to speed up the learning curve with Turbin with only rookies Rod Smith and Trey Williams in reserve.
Veteran Robert Turbin was signed this week after being released by the Cleveland Browns and has been working to pick up the playbook.
Coach Jason Garrett said Turbin went to meetings and practice immediately after arriving and stayed late Wednesday studying the offense.
McFadden has played all nine games so far and played all 16 games for Oakland last season, but he has an injury history. We’d like to think it’s nothing, but mid-week additions to the injury report are never good news, while we’re talking about one of the most injury prone players in the NFL. After that, the Cowboys waived Joseph Randle, the starter for the first six games.
McFadden leads the team with 494 yards on 130 carries this season. They also lost Lance Dunbar to a season-ending knee injury.
The only potential setback of course is this newly found groin injury.
“I feel so strong that McFadden has really got not only comfortable, but he’s got comfortable with the offensive line and the nuances of their skills, ” Jones said. “You’re going to end up throwing the football, putting that torque on consistently, a hair too much if you push it. We threw a little bit earlier in the week”.
