Melania Trump: My modeling career shouldn’t matter in Donald’s presidential run
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has unleashed a number of insults at women, commenting harshly on fellow candidate Carly Fiorina’s face, calling Rosie O’Donnell a “fat pig”, and tweeting that Arianna Huffington is “unattractive inside and out”.
Since Donald Trump announced his presidential candidacy earlier this year, his wife has kept away from the glare of the campaign.
Donald and Melania Trump will speak out about their marriage to Barbara Walters in a 20/20 special airing on Friday.
It was a rare glimpse at the woman who – if Trump is elected president – would become First Lady of the United States.
But that doesn’t mean she hasn’t been involved in her husband’s campaign.
“I would challenge him on that because he was very available to us”, she told Walters. She met Trump at a party in 1998.
“He’s not”, she said. But Melania declined to offer any specifics. Donald chimed in to say “She’s told me a couple of times she was happy with my performances, but she said you could tone it down a little bit on occasion, which I understand.” Wow!
“He’s not. He has a big heart and a very warm heart”, she said of her husband, who has been known not to parse words on the campaign trail in slamming his rivals for the GOP nomination. “He loves the American people and he wants to help them”, she said in the interview. “Maybe because she’s so handsome, we don’t expect her to be as smart as she is”, Walters said.
“I encourage(d) him because I know what he will do and what he can do for America”.
The retired The View host sat down with Robin Roberts, where she admitted when it comes to the real estate mogul’s partner, you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover.
Walters asked the billionaire’s wife: “What is the biggest criticism about him that is untrue?”
