Holly Holm had a classy response to beating Ronda Rousey
It was reported on Monday that Mayweather had asked his friend 50 Cent to put a meme on the rapper’s Instagram account mocking Rousey after her loss (see below), but Mayweather says the trolling of Rousey on social media is “not cool”. “Certain things you have to learn”. “I don’t know about this fight, I just know that you win a few and you lose a few”.
“Everything happens for a reason”, Mayweather added. This was already written. Her boxing promoter organised her mixed martial arts debut in 2011 which Holm, despite a lack of experience at the format, won in a TKO after kicking out the legs of her opponent.
The irony was thick as White’s golden girl suffered her first loss inside the Octagon, after she had entered, as usual, to the soaring vocals of Joan Jett screaming “I don’t give a damn about my reputation”.
While Rousey waits for her next fight, she’ll have a lot to think about. “I want Rousey vs. Correia 2”, Correia said.
Holm had originally only signed up for five UFC bouts but being the first to defeat Rousey will earn her a new lucrative UFC deal.
Ronda Rousey’s story just turned from that of dominance to that of an underdog.
Back in October, Rousey appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon where she spoke about her upcoming fight with Holm and she actually predicted the way she would lose.
Holm, a former champion boxer, improved to 10-0 in MMA while Rousey dropped to 12-1. This girl’s earned it. But you don’t want that person sitting home for five, six, seven months with that championship.
Since that comment, a number of exchanges between the two have taken place with plenty of people now just waiting to hear the verdict of Mayweather since the knockout by Holm of Rousey in Melbourne Saturday night. “I think they’re rushing her. They need to build Ronda Rousey back up, her confidence back up, even though I think she’s probably still confident”, Mayweather said.
