“So it’s crucial that people go about their normal business”, de Blasio told reporters beneath Times Square’s bright lights.
The propaganda video, according to the NY Post, shows Manhattan streetscapes that include Times Square and Herald Square along with images of the city inserted between clips of suicide bombers preparing for attacks.
In a statement, the NY Police Department said it was aware of the video and was deploying additional members of its new anti-terrorism squad out of an abundance of caution.
De Blasio said NY City’s police force of 35,000, the country’s largest, was working tirelessly to keep the city safe from another attack.
“The people of NY City will not be intimidated”.
Governor Andrew Cuomo added in a statement: “Remember that the terrorists’ goal is to let fear win – New Yorkers never have, and we never will”. “We will not submit”.
NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton also addressed the video at a late Wednesday night press conference in Times Square.
Police Commissioner William Bratton said that the video appeared to be “hastily produced”.
