Toronto Bound Air Transat Flight Makes Emergency Landing In Dublin | Talk
A transatlantic jet has made an emergency landing at Dublin Airport this afternoon.
There are reports that the decision was taken to land the Airbus A330 following reports of a smell of smoke in the cockpit.
The passenger flight – part of the Air Transat fleet – was en route from Rome to Toronto.
An unknown issue forced the plane to land in Dublin at around 4.45pm today.
According to a spokesperson with the airline, Air Transat Flight 315 landed safely in Dublin “for a precautionary technical verification” after traces of smoke were first discovered. During that incident, the aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing at Lajes Field in Portugal after the flight ran out of fuel with 304 passengers on board.
There were no serious casualties, although around 80 passengers needed medical attention and the impact of the landing burst eight of the plane’s 10 tires.
