Jonny Evans set for Manchester United exit
Jonny Evans is reportedly on the cusp of a transfer from Manchester United to Everton.
Evans, who has been at Old Trafford since he was nine, was often the scapegoat for a defeat and was eventually reduced to fourth choice central defender behind Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo.
And with United also in the market for a world-class centre-half, with Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos Van Gaal’s number one target, Evans is facing up to the prospect of diminished opportunities if he stays at the club.
United want £10m for Evans, but with only a year left on his contract, they are likely to have to reach a compromise on that figure. With youngsters Paddy McNair and Tyler Blackett potentially set for loan moves away, Evans would be the lowest ranked defender at the club and would struggle severely to get regular first-team football.
Never really more than a squad player, Evans has nonetheless won three Premier League title medals during his eight seasons at Old Trafford. “Ramos is unhappy at the Santiago Bernabeu and could be on the move * a href=”.
The fee is for a reported £8 million, which goes some way to offsetting the transfer outlay for Manchester United who have made four signings already this season, and are rumoured to be after more signings.
