Alabama jobless rate dips to 5.9 percent
Arkansas’ unemployment rate dropped one-tenth of a percentage point to 5.1 percent in October, according to labor statistics released Friday.
Angelina County went from a jobless rate of 5.5 percent in September to an unemployment figure of 6.1 percent in October.
These figures compare with an unemployment rate of 5.7 percent for California and 4.8 percent for the nation during the same period, the data shows.
Across the state, the lowest unemployment marks were found in Monroe (3.4 percent) and St. Johns (3.6 percent) counties.
Service industries in general accounted for all of Texas’ job growth last month, while good producing industries lost jobs.
In October of 2014, Nacogdoches had an unemployment rate of 4.7 percent.
The state gained about 2,200 jobs over the month.
Mining, logging and construction added 700 workers from September to October.
North Carolina’s unemployment was as low as 5.3 percent earlier in the year, which at the time was better than the national average. The state’s job increases have yielded a 1.7 percent annual growth rate continuing its string of positive annual growth for 66 consecutive months.
He said, “The increase in total non-farm employment is above the average increase for the last five years”. Relatively upward United States manufacturing employment numbers in recent years have tampered down in recent reports, remaining relatively unchanged from September to October and year to date.
Texas’ job growth may not be coming at the cost of jobs in California though.
Despite last month’s cutbacks, the leisure and hospitality area is still up 5,200 positions for the year, mainly at drinking establishments and for food services. It settled at its lowest level – 4.2 percent – from April 2000 to September 2000.
The unemployment rate has tumbled below 4.5 per cent in 21 states, including Texas, Colorado, and Virginia.
