Newborn found at scene of stabbing; suspect claims to be mother
The other suspect, a woman claims the baby was hers even though there are no signs she was pregnant, according to police.
Police also said a key to solving the mystery may be a man who was inside the home at the time of the stabbing.
According to the Associated Press, police arrived to the scene on Friday afternoon to find the victim stabbed multiple times in the abdomen.
Dead… Angelikque Sutton, 22, was slashed across the throat before her unborn baby was ripped from her womb.
Sutton’s family declined to talk to reporters Saturday morning as they left Montefiore Medical Center, where the baby, named Genesis, was recovering.
A newborn was found at the scene of a fatal stabbing, and police are trying to find out – was the mother the victim, or the alleged killer?
They explained that her attacker then performed a ruthless Caesarean section on the pregnant woman, carving open her belly to release the little girl.
The newborn entered the world just after 4 p.m.as her expecting 22-year-old mom had a heated dispute with another woman, also 22, inside the apartment on Monticello Ave. near E. 241st St.in Wakefield, sources said.
“That this is a possible baby snatch – this is unforeseeable”.
Sutton and the baby’s father, Patrick Bradley, had registered for baby gifts on the baby-gift registry site The Bump.
Blood could be seen splattered over the staircase and in the bathroom on the second floor, said city officials.
The child – who was a week premature – has since been rushed to a nearby hospital.
“I’ve been crying a lot”, said Sutton’s next-door neighbor Cheryl Wilson, who babysat Sutton when she was a child.
