Miami Hurricanes defeat Georgia Tech in final home game of season
For months, they’ve played with their sights set on winning the Coastal Division.
The Miami Hurricanes (6-4) host the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (3-7) at Sun Life Stadium on Saturday.
The Hurricanes, who lost to Clemson 58-0 in October, trailed by 31 at halftime en route to a 59-21 thumping at North Carolina last week while Georgia Tech has dropped seven of its last eight contests going into its league finale.
Players and coaches spoke about playing for pride, about honoring their seniors and the commitments they’d made to each other, as well as doing their best to improve their postseason bowl options.
Saturday’s game kicks off at 12:30 p.m.
Miami was able to force four Yellow Jackets touchdown, all while not turning the ball a single time.
On the field though, for the Hurricanes (7-4, 4-3) it was for the most part, anything but sloppy.
Two Hurricanes will not participate in the final home game of the season.
And in a school-record tying performance, kicker Michael Badgley belted a 57-yard field goal as time expired in the first half.
Last week, Georgia Tech lost to Virginia Tech, 23-21.
The Yellow Jackets scored the game’s first touchdown, but never led again. Walton became the third Miami freshman to run for a score and catch a scoring pass in the same ACC game, joining Stacy Coley and Travis Benjamin.
