Prem Ratan Dhan Payo First Day Box Office Collection
Box Office India reports that PRDP has recorded the third highest opening weekend, trailing Aamir Khan’s Dhoom: 3, Salman’s own Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Shah Rukh Khan’s Happy New Year.
On Monday, PRDP 5th Day started with an average occupancy of 25% which is on a lower side.
Salman Khan’s dual role as Prem and Vijay is being appreciated the most. A string of movies in weeks leading up to PRDP release had failed to enthuse the masses and they were eager to see what megastar Salman Khan had to offer. For PRDP, the producers have claimed that the opening is of Rs 40.35 crore whereas boi.com states that it has opened to a record breaking Rs 39 crore approx nett!
“@BeingSalmanKhan Sooraj Barjatya creates box office history #PRDP races past 40 crore on day 1!” The music of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo also earn the best collection. He has managed to strike yet again, and that too in a big way, with Prem Ratan Dhan Payo scoring heavily in its extended four day weekend run.
The reviews has been quite good so far and the movie is expected to take on this momentum in the evening and late night shows. The director Sooraj Barjatya-Salman Khan combination has worked well for the promotion of the film as the duo is back together after a gap of 16 years. The film was made on an estimated budget of ₹80 crore-100 crore and before it’s release, it recovered an estimated ₹57 crore from its satellite and music rights.
A Rajshri and Fox Star Studios co-production, the movie has also several brands associated with it, either through in-film branding or media promotion.
Strong box office collection for family drama. Also starring Sonam Kapoor, Anupam Kher, Swara Bhaskar, Armaan Kohli and Neil Nitin Mukesh, the movie is replete with elaborate song and dance sequences, palatial sets, grand clothes and the grandeur one can expect from a movie around royalty.
