Two Police Officers Identified in Fatal Shooting of Jamar Clark
Protests are ongoing in Minneapolis over the police shooting of a black man who witnesses say was unarmed and handcuffed at the time.
Gross and others were speaking out about the fatal shooting of 24-year-old Jamar Clark.
“None of our children deserve to be shot and killed, and then talked about like they are animals”, Bettie Smith, whose son Quincy Smith died in a 2008 confrontation with police, said at a news conference outside the north Minneapolis precinct.
Clark was fatally wounded in what police say was a scuffle with officers responding to an assault.
Black Lives Matter said they “left without incident” after being questioned on live video streams by community members.
An activist group is calling on police in Minneapolis to identify the officer involved in the shooting of a black man over the weekend.
A candlelight vigil and march was planned for 4:30 p.m. Friday outside the precinct headquarters.

The Star Tribune reported that a gathering on Thursday night in Minneapolis was more peaceful.
The rally will be at the Fourth Precinct station, 1925 Plymouth Ave., where police and protesters have clashed since Sunday.
Marlon Marshall said he was in front of the precinct on Wednesday when he saw a commotion and heard that protesters on the west side of the building were being sprayed.
“It shows a militarization of the police force in the city of Minneapolis”, Levy-Pounds said.
Mayor Betsy Hodges has met with protesters to try to diffuse tensions, but says releasing video would jeopardize an investigation of the shooting by state authorities.
Governor Mark Dayton issued a statement saying he supports the request for a federal investigation.
Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.), who represents the area that includes Minneapolis, showed up on Thursday evening to speak on behalf of the protesters and call on state prosecutors to release the video of Clark’s shooting.
The BCA has said it has a few video, but none of it shows the incident in its entirety. An attorney for one of the officers says Clark was not handcuffed, went for an officer’s weapon and “had manual control” of that officer’s gun.
Throughout the night, community members took turns expressing how they felt about Clark’s death within the circle.
Nicque Mabrey, who lives in South Minneapolis, but grew up between rural Wisconsin and North Minneapolis told the crowd that North Minneapolis was the first place she’d found a community that looked like her. “We’re hurting and healing together”, she said.
