Jaguar Land Rover launches new Evoque
The Range Rover Evoque Convertible will retail for $50,475 when it arrives in the US.
Inside the cabin, the SUV features a 10.2-inch touch display with the new generation Jaguar Land Rover InControl Touch Pro system, as mentioned in the company’s press release.
There are no mechanical changes to the Range Rover Evoque.
But Range Rover is in an entirely different league – luxurious, expensive and prone to bold design, as evidenced by a new Evoque Convertible making its North American debut at this week’s L.A. Auto Show.
The challenge was carried out to celebrate 45 years of the Range Rover, with the six millionth model sold heading to China.
Tata Motors-owned Jaguar Land Rover is aiming to increase its India presence with more locally built models as well as the introduction of the entry level XE to challenge the grip of Mercedes Benz, Audi and BMW on the country’s luxury vehicle market. The convertible’s automated roof stows away in 18 seconds and can be raised in 21 seconds, at speeds up to 30mph. “This auto has a soft top, but it isn’t about Range Rover going soft”. Range Rover is available with a series of innovative features that combine to provide unrivalled all-terrain capability including Terrain Response 2 and All-Terrain Progress Control.
The Evoque Convertible goes on sale early next year.
The new Range Rover Evoque Convertible heads to showrooms in spring 2016. pricing details haven’t been announced.
Chris was able to make the most of the intelligent 4WD all-terrain technology on board while the lightweight aluminium body slims the vehicle down by 420kg compared with using traditional steel.
With ample seating for four and cargo space that isn’t impeded when the top is down, Range Rover is betting this automotive oddball will be a primary vehicle for many people, as it’s not just a chop job.
