Texas A&M Aggies 25, Vanderbilt Commodores 0: A&M Smothers the Commodores
The play by Reynolds was a penance of sorts for the rangy receiver, who missed last weekend’s 41-17 victory over non-conference opponent Western Carolina because of an undisclosed violation of a team rule.
However, the game took a turn after Texas A&M scored on a 95-yard touchdown pass. Quarterback Kyle Shurmur threw his first interception of the season right after the Aggies’ touchdown, and although running back Ralph Webb broke 1,000 rushing yards for the season, it still wasn’t enough for the Commodores to put points on the board.
Four plays later, Bertolet’s 25-yard field goal gave Texas A&M a 6-0 lead with 2:32 left in the first quarter.

Texas A&M quarterback Kyle Allen (10) passes against Vanderbilt in the first half of an NCAA college football game Saturday, November 21, 2015, in Nashville, Tenn. The Commodores have been able to stay in most games, including a 9-7 loss at Florida, due to an outstanding defense. Vanderbilt must win Saturday’s game and its contest against Tennessee next weekend to become bowl eligible.
Sam Moeller blocked Tommy Openshaw’s punt and it was recovered by Devonta Burns at the Vanderbilt 13-yard line, setting up the Aggies’ next score. The over/under for this game is 40.5 total points.
That game will mark the return of A&M defensive coordinator John Chavis to Baton Rouge, La., where he spent the prior six seasons before Sumlin swiped him away from the Tigers last January. The year before Chavis arrived at LSU.
