Adele won`t stream her new album
For the long-awaited return since “21” catapulted her into a reluctant global superstar, Adele recruited marquee names including Max Martin, OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder and University of Georgia alum Danger Mouse for production and co-writing.
Not just Prem, but Adele is back; this time with all the musical consciousness of her glorious 25-year-old self.
“I started to wonder if ’21, ‘ being so successful, was enough for everyone”, she says.
“I remember like falling out with my best friend when I was like 7 and listening to Jeff Buckley”, she said. “My mom was a huge fan”.
And finally at number five: Adele is halfway to EGOT-ing, winning multiple Grammys and an Oscar for her song, “Skyfall“.
She’s not only gotten happily married and given birth to a son, but managed the often-impossible task of keeping out of the tabloids while being one of the most famous women in the world.
“If I’m not the one for you”, Adele sings, “why have we been through what we have been through?” Sure, you can still hear club bangers all over the radio but Adele’s vulnerability and throwback vocal stylings opened the way for a different type of pop to rise. Two years ago it was the surprise release of a Beyoncé album.
“Then I got pregnant and he makes me realize everything about myself that I like and I don’t like and I think that’s why the album has become this journey about how I make myself feel, rather than how someone else makes me feel like I’ve done before”.
For the past few years, the music industry has relied on a sort of Christmas miracle, a last-minute release from one of the few artists who can still move the needle and keep sales figures in the black. Her latest single, “Hello”, was the most viewed video on Vevo in 24 hours, the most streamed song on Spotify in a day and the most downloaded song in a week ever.
In just three weeks, the single “Hello” has sold 2.2 million tracks.
Unlike Ms. Swift, who is most popular among younger listeners, Adele receives a big boost from older consumers.
“I did a Kim Kardashian”, the singer said in an interview with etalk.ca.
“I’m such a fan, oh my God”. However, it was later made available on Spotify after the service agreed to pay Ms. Swift for free streaming.
British singer Adele’s much-anticipated album 25 will not be available for streaming on any digital music services, including Spotify, Apple Music and Deezer, the companies said on Thursday.
With “25”, Adele has delivered on a promise to drop the album she is most capable of making.
“I perform as Adele for a living so I know exactly how she sings every note”.
“25” had been expected to sell more than 1 million units in North America in its first week, according to estimates by Billboard magazine.
It’s a move similar to that of Taylor Swift, who pulled her music from Spotify. The internet introduced myriad ways to listen and own music – not all of them legal – but Adele’s soulful torch songs have buoyed her beyond the industry’s reduced expectations.
Adele is now in NY where she was pictured meeting fans on Friday (20 November)… Which is a curious thing, given that part of the appeal of those earlier songs is that they appear to have been written honestly and in the moment. First up: Adele was discovered on Myspace, using her top eight to her advantage to network a deal with XL Recordings. “I’d let myself fall apart, and I’d sit in darkness, and I’d feel sorry for myself, and I wouldn’t accept any help to get out of it, in terms of going out with my friends to cheer me up, or staying busier. No!”
