Israeli police say 4 wounded in stabbing attack
Police say a stabbing attack in southern Israel has wounded four people, two of them seriously.
“A Palestinian terrorist stabbed 4 in Kiryat Gat, one of them is a 13 y/o girl”.
“Second attack today. Shots fired at Alon Shvut Junction, suspect fled the scene and rammed his vehicle into pedestrians at Gush Etzion”, said Peter Lerner, a spokesman for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
“Once again, violence against innocent Israeli citizens perpetrated by Palestinian terrorists tragically took the life of 18-year-old Ezra Schwartz, a young man whose death leaves hopes and dreams unrealized and grieving family and friends in MA and CT, particularly the New Haven and Stamford areas”.
Tensions have been on the rise between Israelis and Palestinians in recent months after Israel imposed restrictions on the entry of Palestinian worshipers into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East al-Quds (Jerusalem). Three Israelis, an American and a Palestinian (who may or may not have been the attacker) were all killed in the deadliest day since an 1 October upsurge in violence began.
Israeli military officers said the radio was shut down because it broadcast calls to attack Israelis.
The move comes amid increasing violence between Israelis and Palestinians in which nearly 100 people have died.
Kerry at the time stressed that the Obama administration would keep pushing for an Israeli-Palestinian peace agreement in its remaining 16 months in office. The attack occurred in the commercial center of Tel Aviv. The unrest quickly spread throughout Israel, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
The station’s manager, Amjad Shawar, said more than 40 soldiers raided the station, seizing or destroying equipment.
Amnesty worldwide has also documented a pattern of unlawful killings, including extrajudicial executions, by Israeli forces against Palestinian civilians and a series of attacks by Israeli settlers on Palestinian civilians and homes over the past two months.
