Big week for Buckeyes with big challenge from Spartans
The natives are actually restless.
Meyer, though, said the heat no longer bothers him, calling it “water off the duck’s back”.
Last week, against Northern IL, the Buckeyes struggled mightily in several capacities. Of course, J.T. Barrett is a dual-threat QB who is capable of being the best player on the field no matter who Ohio State is playing.
“I really could care less about that question or that whole thing”, Cook said.
The offensive line blocked well enough in the running game but left something to be desired in pass protection. Saturday was a great day for the Spartans in terms of outside help, with OR giving Stanford its second loss and continuing to enhance MSU’s win over OR; Arizona upsetting Utah and putting the Pac-12’s playoff hopes in peril; Baylor losing to Oklahoma; and U-M prevailing at in, helping preserve the value of that MSU road win.
#4 Notre Dame: Stanford needs to beat Notre Dame when they wrap up their regular season.
And there isn’t much more information on his shoulder, though Mark Dantonio said he’s still at “9.5” on the confidence scale of 1-10 that Cook will be able to perform with his usual effectiveness. “They’ve had to go through a lot and I think it would be a heck of an accomplishment if we get one of these games or both those games and get them to a bowl game and really enjoy it. We’ve gone through a lot”. “It seems like yesterday I was coming here for the first time”, Bosa said on Monday. “He’s a product of those around him”. “Yeah, that was a turning point where the offense was clicking on all cylinders a year ago”.
Since the start of the 2012 season when he was hired, Meyer has posted a 48-3 (30-0) record with the Buckeyes, including last year’s national championship. In the spring, Barrett was still recovering, so Jones was the starter and then out of the fall camp, Jones hadn’t been beaten out.
This week we get the Spartans of MI State. “That might not be everyone’s philosophy”. In the four games prior to the Maryland game, Cook threw for a combined 1,428 yards and 11 touchdowns. Barrett was sacked only once but felt defensive pressure most of the game. “It’s a very unique situation”.
Good news for the Big 12, where the focus has flipped from the Lone Star state to the Sooner state. The line has dominated in run-blocking, but right tackle Chase Farris & Co. have to provide more time for Barrett.
“Our defense is playing lights out”. Meyer also made an opening statement that implied what we all knew- OSU was looking past the Illini to this week. His star running back, junior Ezekiel Elliott, continued his Heisman-worthy season and moved into third place in school history for career rushing yards. He broke no runs longer 13 yards last week. He leads the FBS with 15 straight 100-yard rushing games.
He definitely loves this team, but his job prospects and this season’s legacy will come down to the last two games.
“They’re a very good team”.
Ohio State’s self-named “Zone 6” receiving corps matches up against MI State’s beaten-down – but never-say-die – self-named “No Fly Zone” secondary. As Meyer pointed out following the win at IL, his defense has been “lights out” of late.
Zac Terrell is the Broncos’ quarterback.
Dak Prescott was 23-of-44 passing for 303 yards for the Bulldogs. He’s backed up by Tom Flacco, who is the younger brother of Baltimore Ravens’ quarterback, Joe Flacco. He leads the nation in passes caught.
It also makes no sense to argue about whether MI State is getting the respect it rightfully has earned the past five seasons.
