Reese Witherspoon Shared the Connection among Her, Ava, and Malala
In a women power event organized on October 10, 2014 in Los Angeles by Variety, Reese Witherspoon spoke in the favor of the recent Nobel Peace Prize owner, Malala Yousafzai.
Reese Witherspoon in the event shared her personal connection with Malala. When she was 14 years old, she was auditioning a movie, and at the same age her daughter showed the book written by Malala. What a coincident, Malala at the age of 14 spoke out against the cruelty of Taliban and fought for the rights of education for the feminine gender.
Reese Witherspoon, 38, stated that she remembered that when her daughter Ava was 7 or 8 years old she refused to go to school. In such situations she would take the opportunity to explain Ava about the girls all over the world who never got the chance to go to school. Her daughter used to ask her the reason, and in reply she told Ava that in certain locations people tries to get control over the women by not allowing them to read and write. The mother of Ava also explained her daughters that if she can’t write or read she will never stand in the position to vote and create new laws. The little Ava was amazed with the answers.
As per Reese, “I took the opportunity to explain to her that there are a lot of girls all over the world who don’t get the opportunity to go to school. She was shocked and she asked me why. I told her that in certain places, people control women by not teaching them to read and write. If you can’t read, you can’t vote. If you can’t write, you can’t create new laws, and my daughter found that astounding. And from that point on Ava became determined to help others understand the plight of women around the world.”
The ‘Wild’ actress in the event praised and congratulated the Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala for the struggle. Malala is the youngest person selected for the Nobel Peace prize for 2014. Reese Witherspoon replied after getting the news she woke her daughter up and shared the news.
