Bulls vs. Warriors: Score, Video Highlights and Recap from November 20
ORACLE proceeds to go bonkers, as well they should. Keeping ahead of that cycle can be the difference between repeating as champions and falling into the ranks of mere contenders.
OAKLAND, Calif._One more win to tie, two more for the Golden State Warriors to achieve the best start in National Basketball Association history.
The victory allowed the Warriors to equal the all-time record for consecutive wins at the start of a season for a reigning champion, matching the feat of the 1957-58 Boston Celtics.
In other games, the surging Dallas Mavericks continued their hot streak, defeating Utah Jazz 102-93, Dirk Nowitzki scoring 19 and hitting all three of his attempts from beyond the arc.
Another factor that played into the Bulls’ hands: former Warriors assistant Pete Myers knowing the Golden State personnel from his days as one of Mark Jackson‘s right-hand men.
The stats are staggering.
The Squad – the Warriors’ small lineup featuring Draymond Green at center, Harrison Barnes at power forward, Andre Iguodala at small forward and Klay Thompson and Steph Curry at the guards – is simultaneously attractive and savage. Please don’t make the mistake of watching the Warriors, as they assault sports history, and assume that their astonishing ascent to a higher level means any Joe, Fred or Luke can guide them.
Meanwhile, the Warriors don’t face another one of the top-5 teams in our rankings until they host the Cleveland Cavaliers on Christmas Day. The Clippers shot a scorching 71 percent from the field in the first quarter as the Warriors gave up a season-worst 41 points in a quarter.
The Bulls executed their game plan well, keeping turnovers down and limiting the Warriors to 10 made 3-pointers for a team averaging 12.5 entering Friday night.
Kristaps Porzingis was on a mission Saturday night, posting 24 points, 14 rebounds, and 7 blocks in New York’s fourth straight victory. But what made Jefferson salivate most was seeing how the Sixers were defending him – with only first-year player Jahlil Okafor. While 82-0 and 0-82 are obviously near impossibilities, it has become an interesting debate to try and guess which will happen first, a Warriors loss or a Sixers win. But once again, the Warriors were just too much thanks to a simply devastating small-ball lineup combination that looks to be pretty much unstoppable. His growth as a shooter and facilitator is nearly unfair given everything else he does for the team.
“It’s tough, but I definitely have to commend the players and the coach and that coaching staff because those guys always come to play, each and every night”, Walker said. He turned down a lucrative contract extension in October and now seems likely to garner a max-level offer sheet as a restricted free agent next summer.
“My teammates just kept giving me the ball, to tell you the truth, whether I wanted it or not”.
It helps that Iguodala remains capable of guarding four positions at 31 years old.
Curry is making an unimpeachable case for repeat MVP honours.
“I think we have a few guys on this team who pick and choose when they play hard, and those guys aren’t going to play”, he said after Friday’s loss to Phoenix, during which the Nuggets blew a 17-point second-half lead.
