Klopp: Lovren “Has Done a Really Good Job”
Liverpool Defender Mamadou Sakho has posted a video on social media showing that he is already back working on his fitness.
The Croatian signed for the Reds from Southampton in 2014, but has struggled to cement a regular spot in the first team following a number of blunders.
Sakho limped off with a knee injury during the Reds 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace at Anfield and has since been ruled out for up to eight weeks.
The Frenchman’s misfortune means Lovren, who last started a league game on September 12, will return to the side for a crucial run of games, starting on Saturday at Manchester City.
“With Dejan, there will be absolutely no problem”, Klopp confirmed. Dejan has done a really good job since I’ve come in here. But in this moment we have made no decisions because we don’t have to make them yet. He was brilliant on this day. I have had the opportunity three or four times before; he is a quality player and of course, with one opportunity he can score. [Laughs] It’s good news, it’s not too serious.
But the in-form centre-back’s absence opens the door for 26-year-old Lovren, who Klopp believes won’t let his team-mates and the club down alongside Martin Skrtel.
“To make a final judgement on the players here I need much more time”. I don’t know what I will do tomorrow when I name the squad.
He added that the club “have the possibilities” to “change a few things” in the window half-way through the season, as well as the summer window, but insisted they have “made no decisions” thus far because they “don’t have to make them yet”. “He’s been one of the best performers this season”, Carragher said. We will see what’s necessary and what’s not necessary, that’s how we work.
“I don’t want to give you a time, you can ask everyday, but it’s not Christmas 2016 – so that’s good!”
“So we need to be clever and concentrated all the time, for 95 minutes, against him”.
