New poll: Hillary Clinton maintains her lead

A CBS News and NY Times national poll taken after Vice President Biden’s announcement that he would not run for president, shows Hillary Clinton gained ground on her primary rival, Vermont senator Bernie Sanders.

At Tuesday’s town hall-style event in New Hampshire, Mrs Clinton laughed when a man in the crowd spoke of wanting to throttle Carly Fiorina.

This is while she has struggled to shake off lingering questions about her use of a private email server while she was secretary of state, an issue that has dented her support among a few Democrats and helped bolster Sanders’ campaign.

“This is something that all three of the Democratic candidates called for”, she said, aligning herself with Sen.

Clinton was forced to backtrack last month after she said in an interview with MSNBC that the veterans’ health care scandal was not “as widespread” as suggested, and accused Republicans of politicizing the agency. The frontrunner for the Democratic nomination released a number of plans Tuesday that she said would improve care for millions of American veterans.

Donald Trump, for example, at an event earlier this year, failed to correct or admonish a questioner who said, “We have a problem in this country”. “Hillary Clinton is without a doubt the most effective leader to stand up to Big Polluters and push forward an aggressive plan to tackle climate change and get it done”.

Hillary Clinton has a large advantage with women, but a narrow lead among men. John McCain responded that Clinton had “a total lack of appreciation for the crisis facing veterans’ health care” and urged her to apologize.
