Chelsea midfielder Oscar commits future to Stamford Bridge amid Juventus
Chelsea playmaker Oscar has reiterated his commitment to the Premier League champions, saying he wants to stay at Stamford Bridge “for a long time”.
The midfielder missed Brazil’s Copa America campaign this summer due to a thigh complaint, but says the extra break and the chance of a full preseason could be beneficial for next season.
Reassuring words from one of our best players.
It has been suggested that the Brazilian has not enjoyed anything like his best year since his move from Internacional in 2012.
However, the 23-year-old was included in Chelsea’s promotional shoot for their new kit launch to dampen those rumours and is looking forward to reaping the benefits of a proper break.
Kenedy, who has been dubbed the “new Hulk”, for his physical style of play and ferocious left foot, was all but confirmed as a new Chelsea FC signing when compatriot Oscar posted a photo on his personal Instagram account of Kenedy along with the Blues’ Brazilian contingent after the club’s arrival in Montreal.
Oscar made 28 league appearances last season for Chelsea, scoring six goals and providing eight assists.
Oscar struggled towards the back end of the 2014/15 season, before picking up an injury that saw him ruled out of the tournament in Chile.
“This is the first time I have started pre-season and for me this is very, very important”, Oscar told the club’s website in Canada.
“In the last three years I played more than 200 games and this is a lot. Now, because he’s injured he’s not going to the Copa America and I have a feeling that next year Oscar can have the same kind of evolution as [Eden] Hazard had this season”.
