Ravens QB Flacco out for rest of season with knee injury
The Rams led 13-3 going into the final quarter but could not close out the game.
Upshaw hit Rams quarterback Case Keenum from the blind side, and the ball was recovered by defensive end Lawrence Guy at the Saint Louis 41.
The climax of the game came when Rashad Greene returned a 63 yard punt to set the stage for Blake Bortles 5 yard touchdown pass to Julius Thomas with just 3:30 remaining on the clock. Justin Tucker booted the conversion, making it 13-10 with 11:11 left in regulation. The Ravens have the upper hand in terms of planning for the game but the Rams have the much better roster.
Both teams had a chance to win in the closing minutes of regulation.
Meanwhile, Flacco displayed his frustration and disappointment when asked about whether the severity of the injury would impact the 2016 season. His run of 122 straight starts will end next week.
Meanwhile, running back Justin Forsett broke his arm and will be out for the rest of the season. Baltimore did block the extra point to make it a 13-3 lead for St. Louis. He had 43 yards rushing in the first quarter, including a 39-yarder, before he was escorted to the locker room. Baltimore got the ball in a position to score that game-winning field goal after a Case Keenum fumble, but by all measures Keenum should not have been allowed to stay in the game. But Keenum did not exit the field to undergo concussion protocol.
Forsett had a productive start Sunday, gaining 31 yards on his first three carries. CBS Sports John Breech reports that Romo stepped up in the clutch and made the Cowboys look like legitimate contenders as he went 4 for 5 during the fourth quarter throwing for 45 yards, including a tie breaking touchdown.
The injury occurred when Forsett was slammed to the ground by Aaron Donald, the Rams’ defensive tackle. Rodney McLeod has his second interception of the season.
Notes: Rams RT Andrew Donnal left the game early in the second quarter with an unspecified knee injury.
