Midnight Special: first trailer for 2016 sci-fi movie
Nichols is known for highly acclaimed movies like Take Shelter (another genre bender that starred Shannon) and Mud, which garnered Nichols a nomination for Best Director at the Independent Spirit Awards and made many top ten lists in 2013.
Last week, we saw the poster and a few images for Midnight Special, an upcoming thriller from director Jeff Nichols (Take Shelter) that takes inspiration from Spielberg’s scifi classics, including E.T. and Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
Am I the only one getting a slight Amblin vibe from this trailer, maybe with a bit of Powder thrown in there?
Written and directed by Jeff Nichols, “Midnight Special” is scheduled to open on March 18. We know more about WB’s ultra-secretive “Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice” than we do about Nichols’ picture, obviously because Zack Snyder’s keynote of the DC Cinematic Universe is under the fanboy microscope.

Today we get a glimpse of what Nichols and Shannon have in store, with the fantastic first trailer for Midnight Special, due out in April of next year.
