Matthew McConaughey, Adele Host Saturday Night Live
Instead of rattling off jokes in his opening monologue, McConaughey opted for a story, recounting his journey in his 1993 breakout role.
Her performance of “Hello” on SNL, hosted by Matthew McConaughey, the day after the album’s release was certainly one to remember.
This isn’t the first time that Saturday Night Live has explored catharsis through Adele songs.
It featured family members who clearly have different views about the upcoming election, ISIS and transgender people. The family could not agree on anything and got into intense discussions, until Adele’s hit single “Hello” is put on.
This was Adele’s second time performing on the show: In 2008, she performed “Chasing Pavements” and “Cold Shoulder” off of 19, back when the world had no idea what was coming before the thunderous success of 21. As soon as the British singer’s voice is heard through the speakers, everyone stops fighting to sing their hearts out to “Hello”. The Thanksgiving skit soon turned into a parody of Adele’s “Hello” music video.
After poking fun at her “Hello” flip-phone in the promos leading up to tonight, the singer performed a spot-on rendition of her record-breaking stunner.
