Doug Martin has historic day as Buccaneers rout Eagles
Breaking down the first half of the Philadelphia Eagles-Tampa Bay Buccaneers tilt. Tampa drafted QB Jameis Winston with the number one overall pick in the draft, and he’s done well enough to lead them to a 4-5 record.
THE SANCHIZE: Mark Sanchez is expected to make his first start of the season because Sam Bradford is recovering from a concussion and left shoulder injury.
Another week, another embarrassing loss from the preseason Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles. The defense is led by Lavonte David, who has 81 tackles with two sacks. But my doubts about Chip’s ability to lead this team and prepare this team and get this team ready to play a football game are only getting stronger.
But the series that defined the game for the Bucs came when they opened the third quarter with a 15-play touchdown drive that covered 80 yards and took almost 10 minutes off the clock.
The Buccaneers (5-5) have won two straight games for the first time in two years.
PHILADELPHIA-For the most of the season, the Eagles’ defense has played well even in the face of a few pretty dismal performances by the offense.
The Eagles’ 45-17 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday was so embarrassing that Bucs quarterback Jameis Winston, who grew up an Eagles fan, was singing the Eagles’ fight song on the field as he threw five touchdown passes, tying the record for the most allowed by the Eagles.
The Eagles went into halftime trailing 28-14. Bradford completed 19 of his 25 passes for 236 yards and a touchdown before coming out of the game in the third quarter, while Sanchez finished 14-of-23 for 156 yards and one interception.
Winston schooled the Eagles defense and coordinator Billy Davis.
Winston, on the march leading to his fifth TD pass and a 35-14 lead, was in the grasp of Cox when he performed the switcheroo.
NOTES: Eagles LT Jason Peters was back in the lineup after missing the last two games with back problems.
Alexander received national prominence earlier this month when he played with a heavy heart in the upset victory over the Atlanta Falcons on November 1 – less than 48 hours after his 17-year-old brother was shot to death. “I’ve got to work on wet ball drills or something”.
Eagles linebacker Brandon Graham said Winston did a great job of making audibles at the line of scrimmage and keeping the Eagles defense off- balance. The Eagles created a total of 33 turnovers in those games, and they’ll look to start a new streak on Sunday.
Winston’s five touchdown passes were caught by five different receivers: Brate, Mike Evans, Vincent Jackson, Russell Shepard and Charles Sims.

Once again, the state of the Eagles’ offensive line is a question heading into the weekend.
