Napoli and Fiorentina share Serie A lead ahead of Inter game
The win took Napoli, at least temporarily, top of Serie A with 28 points, one ahead of Fiorentina and Inter Milan who were both playing later Sunday.
Sarri, who saw his side go provisional top of Serie A on Sunday following a 2-0 win at Verona, said his side were “relaxed” about the prospect of travelling.
Torino won 1-0 at Atalanta.
Empoli took the lead in the 18th minute, although Marko Livaja was clearly offside when he latched onto Riccardo Saponara’s through ball and fired inside the near post.
Buchel doubled Empoli’s lead nine minutes later and for the remainder of the opening half Fiorentina struggled to find the breakthrough.
Napoli are next in action with a Europa League clash away to Club Brugge, before taking on Serie A rivals Inter Milan on November 30. But the canny Portuguese handler soon changed tack, Kalinic and Federico Bernardeschi replacing Mario Suarez and Ante Rebic for the start of the second half.
Kalinic had his brace inside five minutes when he squeezed between two defenders to slot Babarcar’s low delivery home after the Senegalese striker had been given acres of space on the right.
Lazio ended their three-game losing run with a 1-1 draw against Palermo, as Antonio Candreva’s 69th minute penalty cancelled out Edoardo Goldaniga’s earlier strike.
A significant part of that success has been the form of Insigne and Higuain, with the latter adding to his tally to make it 10 for the season as he moved clear at the top of the goalscoring standings.
Lorenzo Insigne handed the visitors the lead in the 67th minute, Gonzalo Higuain sealed the win in the 73rd minute, after being teed by Insinge.
