Tony Romo throws first touchdown pass in return for Cowboys
After 30 minutes in Miami, the Dallas Cowboys are leading the Dolphins, 14-7. The Miami Dolphins (4-5) are trying to stay within reach of the American Football Conference (AFC) Wildcard spot. It doesn’t matter what I suggest because after this season is over the team will make a handful of moves and try to sell the public on the idea those will raise an entire franchise from the perpetual mediocrity mire. “He does a great job”. Dallas did control play with 68 offensive snaps, a staple of the 2014 team. With Romo back, coach Jason Garrett said the Cowboys don’t need for him to be Superman. Badly”, Campbell said. “As far as I’m concerned we still hold the cards. It’s all about winning.
The Cowboys went up two scores when they added a field goal midway through the fourth quarter. Romo found Terrance Williams over the middle to get a big chunk of that yardage back by adjusting in the pocket and making a pressure throw.
To do so will require more offense.
Miami had the ball for only 21 minutes and went 1 for 10 on third-down conversions.
Running back Darren McFadden was active for the Cowboys.
“Every game matters, and I just got to go out there and put it on the line”, he said. “It came down to execution on our part, missing tackles and missed assignments and different things of that nature”. They were penalized nine times for 74 yards. Then my footwork got better and I got tighter with everything.
Tony Romo showed against Miami how much his leadership has been missed all season. He awed with a left-handed completion, he wowed with a spinning scramble that resulted in a first down catch.
With the extra pass protector in to help, the Cowboys were able to pick up the blitz and give Romo time to look downfield.
But after losing to Dallas 24-14 on Sunday and falling to 4-6 there’s more than just this year at stake. On Sunday, he hit Jarvis Landry with a perfectly lofted 47-yard pass that led to a second-quarter touchdown.
Romo, facing a blitz on a third-and-6 at the Dolphins’ 12, lobbed a pass toward the end zone that was easily intercepted by cornerback Brent Grimes. Those numbers were helped by the Dallas time of possession (38:50), but it was enough defense to win.
BUCCANEERS 45, EAGLES 17: In Philadelphia, Jameis Winston tied a rookie record with five touchdown passes, Doug Martin ran for 235 yards for Tampa Bay. But Romo directed a late 5½-minute drive that sealed Dallas’ win. He stepped in front of a pass by Ryan Tannehill intended for Greg Jennings. Matt Stafford scored Detroit’s only touchdown on a five-yard run with 11:04 left to give the Lions the win. Christopher Ruiz, a civilian contractor who died in Afghanistan in October, was honored during a timeout in the Dolphins-Cowboys game.
And for the second consecutive week a Dolphins kick returner made a dubious decision on a kickoff, putting Miami inside its 5 to begin a series.
