What We Learned: Panthers vs. Redskins

Much of what everyone around the Washington Redskins was anxious about with Cousins was how he would respond after making a mistake. The defense forced multiple turnovers and sacked Cousins over and over again to finish out the game.

Redskins wide receiver Andre Roberts provided a spark Sunday vs. the Panthers with his first-career kickoff return for a touchdown, the Redskins’ second kickoff return score this season. Cam Newton joined the Panthers the same year as Rivera. The Redskins were held to 14 yards rushing on 12 carries and Alfred Morris left the game with a rib injury.

“It’s an honor first (to play on Thanksgiving), but before everything else we’ve got to get guys mended up”, Newton said.

And that was the end of anything good happening for Washington.

But, if she really did offer the Titans cheerleaders as alternative viewing, I’d note that those women nearly certainly performed moves Sunday more titillating than anything Newton did, and, in this particular instance, performed those moves wearing skimpy salute-to-the-troops outfits that looked just like Army fatigues, only with cleavage.

The Washington Redskins entered their week 11 contest with the Carolina Panthers with a lot confidence after they had dominated the New Orleans Saints the previous week.

It allowed the Panthers to get a few valuable rest, especially considering the short turnaround for Thursday’s game at the Dallas Cowboys.

Benwikere blitzed off the blind side and hit quarterback Kirk Cousins before he could throw, forcing a fumble that he recovered himself. However, as the game wore on it became apparent that the Panthers were the superior team.

“It was hard. We didn’t get no breaks”. It’s a big part of the reason the team is just 4-5 on the year-though there are plenty of other issues in Washington that play into that, as well.

Newton’s four first-half touchdown throws were a club record.

Newton further irritated serious fans of the game when he began doing a celebration after scoring a touchdown in which he simulated Clark Kent pulling open his shirt to reveal that he is Superman. The Panthers scored seven players later to make it 28-14. It was the first the Panthers have given up since 2009.

Washington went 2 of 9 on third down today, compared to 7 of 14 for the Panthers.

The Skins committed nine penalties today, with eight being on the defense. On most of those sacks, Cousins never had a chance. On the ground, Jonathan Stewart rushed for 91 yards and one touchdown in 22 attempts. “You nearly take it as a challenge, and it makes it nearly more enjoyable”. If it is serious, that’s a devastating blow.

Romo is playing in his first game since September 20.

Rookie Jang Ha-na of South Korea posted a 69 for 272 to share second place with American Gerina Piller, who fired a 67. Washington will have to live without for now because if he hasn’t fixed it by now, he won’t fix it this season.

Baltimore won despite committing two turnovers and being penalized 10 times for 137 yards. That’s how bad teams lose. They are slated to play them twice in a three week period, only separated by a road game against the Giants.

St. Louis (4-6) lost four fumbles and missed an extra point.

Personally, I believe Palmer’s contention that he was simply messing with his friends who were seated behind Arizona’s bench, although the National Football League still fined him $11,576 Friday. It’s going to take a while to put this right. Unfortunately, patience and self-awareness are not Snyder’s strengths.
