Nintendo opened an eBay store for a few reason
They are planning to sell games and hardware including the earlier versions in a refurbished format.
Nintendo’s eBay store isn’t a second-hand or refurbished-only shop as the company will be selling brand-new products as well including games, consoles and other related accessories. This would in turn mean that buyers can’t expect any steal from Nintendo, for now at least. According to Nintendo, “Welcome to the Official Nintendo eBay Store”.
Engadget points out that while the Nintendo online stores is “kind of off the beaten path, where a lot of shoppers won’t come across it”, eBay is a well established online marketplace. The store hasn’t gotten a lot of attention, as it only has two feedback ratings, both of which were positive. When you enter the store, Nintendo welcomes you with a message that lets you know you can buy new and factory-refurbished systems directly from them. This exclusive shop will have items that will not be available in any other retailers outside of the official Nintendo stores.
Ever since SuperMario, Nintendo is one of the most popular gaming companies in the world and there is a possibility they will be getting even more popular, now that they have their own official store on eBay.
Its opening is also timed with the Christmas gift-buying season, although the only item on sale in the eBay Nintendo store is a Wii Fit U bundle. However, the store was opened in time for the holidays so it will most likely be a good thing to keep an eye on when it’s time to go shopping for presents.
