Marshall launches rock and roll smartphone that it calls the ‘loudest mobile
Since we listen to most of our music on phones these days it makes sense for an audio company to get into the smartphone business, though it’s a bit of a stretch to believe that the phone has been developed entirely by Marshall. It is soon to launch its own smartphone, made in collaboration with the Finnish firm behind the Ibis smart bracelet concept we wrote about in 2014.
The new product is hardly expected to compete on the global smartphone market, but there’s an ever-increasing number of niche mobile devices specifically catered to a highly niche demographic in mind, like luxury mobile phone producer Vetru.
If you have spent or have ever considered spending an embarrassingly large amounts of money on a perfect set oh headphones, than you have definitely acquainted yourself with Marshall Amplification and its impressive portfolio of pure audio awesomeness.
At the heart of the London is the M-Button – a dedicated one-click access to your music, whatever the source of it may be.
The 4.7-inch Marshall London runs Google’s Android Lollipop 5.0.2, and sports 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, with a microSD card slot for added space.
In case you’re interested, you can pre-order a London phone for around £320 now or wait till August 21 if you would like to do a hands-on first.
Zound Industries, a Swedish company which also manufactures Urban Ears headphones, began licensing the Marshall brand as Marshall Headphones for a line of headphones and Bluetooth speakers in 2010. “This soundcard gives the London a separate processor for music, allowing it to play at a higher resolution”, explains the firm and the phone supports FLAC files. Do you think it’s going to be more than just an experiment? Of course, it’ll also work with other third party music and recording software downloaded from the Google Play Store. The London’s got stereo speakers and dual microphones, too, but what’ll really turn heads is its dual 3.5mm headphone jacks.
Marshall couldn’t ignore the fact that DJing is a popular way to enjoy music and connect with others. Apps for recording, DJ mixing, and even guitarists come pre-installed.
