U.S. service employees union, with 2 million members, endorses Clinton
In an interview with Yahoo News’ Katie Couric, Sanders questioned Clinton’s invoking of the September 11 attacks during the debate to address concerns she is too close to Wall Street.
Kefauver said the SEIU’s endorsement also provides Clinton money, organizational infrastructure and volunteers. Dickerson then asked Sen. He suggested the remark was a spontaneous response to Sanders. Sanders’ campaign shot back that her approach to health care was all about her financial donors.
The number-crunchers at global Business Times were quick to comply, compiling a list of Clinton’s Wall Street contributions to her Senate campaign (before her missionary work following the 2001 terror attacks). But Sanders has said his plan would incorporate Medicare into a broader system intended to cover all Americans and wouldn’t mean the government would stop paying for seniors’ health care. “Well, why do they make millions of dollars of campaign contributions?” They expect to get something. She received the SEIU’s backing after her well-received performance in the second Democratic presidential debate held last Saturday in Des Moines, Iowa. “She’s put forward the strongest policies on Wall Street reform”, Podesta said. “That’s what it is”.
“We should be working to build on it. Yes, does it need to be improved?”
“She’s the senator from NY”, Sanders said. “She worked-and many of us supported you-in trying to rebuild that devastation”.
Along with his political views, Sanders will discuss his vision for creating an American future based on economic and social justice and “environmental sanity”, according to his campaign.
