16 in hospital after mass shooting at United States park
The shooting was reported before 7 p.m.in the 1900 block of Gallier Street, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
Gamble said each of the 16 victims suffered either a “direct gunshot wound” or a “graze wound” and all were listed in stable condition, though the full extent of their injuries was still to be ascertained.
Mayor Mitch Landrieu, speaking in a news conference aired on WWL-TV, called on people who were in the park to come forward with information. Witnesses told police that the gunmen ran off after the shooting was over.
Emergency medical workers took 10 of the injured to hospitals.

He said there were two groups at the park – those who had walked there in the parade and those watching or participating in the video. He said it was being made without a permit.
Other witnesses told The Times-Picayune newspaper that the gathering was part of an after-party that followed a neighborhood parade.
Several ambulances scrambled to the scene.
New Orleans Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
NOPD officers were assisting at the second line when the shooting happened. They range in size, level of organization and traditions.
The city’s murder rate this year stands at 138, NOLA.com reported. According to Times-Picayune, following the Sunday’s shootings, the murder count for the city stands at 138 in 2015.
