OH performers to participate in Macy’s Parade
Ram recently announced that more than 25 Ram trucks will kick off the holiday season as they tow the floats in the 89 annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
The new floats range from the traditional, like Hallmark’s rolling Advent calendar, to off-kilter, like the giant turkey and dove wading through a cranberry bog on Ocean Spray’s entry.
“I mean it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity”, said another dancer, Halle Booker. “It’s just, being there”.
The CMS team are grouped in the Spirit Of America section of the parade. The team was asked due to their high competition scores. “So they’re dancers. They catch on very fast”.
The team received an invitation to be in the parade in July.
But little did she know, one day she would get the opportunity to play in the parade and be on national television. The choreographed TV routine was built around the 108 athletes in a complex inter-connected matrix of jumpers performing double-dutch, said Heartbeats officials.
“He understands that the students helping the students is probably better in the long run than Bud trying to do everything and probably failing”, Zarrow said.
The team is dancing to a medley of Christmas tunes with candy cane leggings and colorful dresses.
“Ram takes great pride in aligning our brand with iconic American events like the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade”, said Bob Hegbloom, Head of Ram Brand for FCA-North America. Jumpers also will perform tricks and skills in unison as they jump their way along the 3-mile parade route. All of the girls raised their own funds to pay for the trip.
“That is only a small part in the grand scheme of how much it costs for everybody going”, said Watkins.
The band said they will perform an Elvis tribute during the parade, which will be aired live on WMC Action News 5 on Thanksgiving Day at 9 a.m.
