Arrest made in connection to murder of pastor’s pregnant wife
A teenager has been accused of killing a pregnant pastor’s wife during a home invasion in Indianapolis, police said early Monday.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement that Larry Taylor was arrested by detectives from the department’s violent crime and gang units, with assistance from U.S. Marshals.
Davey Blackburn is the former pastor of a Newspring church in Greenville, South Carolina.
Blackburn was 12 weeks pregnant at the time of her death.
Police also have at least one other man in custody being held on unrelated charges after he was questioned by detectives in connection with the case.
Police Chief Rick Hite said in the release that the department is thankful to its federal, state and local partnerships that aided in the arrest. “All casualties of criminal murders deserve close, and as a community we have to send a collective message that violence isn’t alternative”. Prosecutors were reviewing the case to make a final decision on what charges Taylor would face in connection with the murder of Amanda Blackburn. “Our detectives have worked tirelessly going days without sleep to solve murders in our city”.
The news outlet reported that Taylor sexually assaulting and shooting Blackburn while the other two suspects stole her ATM card.
Appearing on “Inside Edition” Thursday, Davey Blackburn begged the public for information that could help the investigation.
The trio will also be charged with a burglary earlier that day at the home of a Blackburn neighbor.
Amanda Blackburn was taken to Indiana University Methodist Hospital in critical condition, where she later died.
