Do Americans think President Obama has a clear plan for ISIS?

Obama stressed that the United States will continue to work with its allies worldwide – from France to countries in the region including Malaysia – to fight and defeat the IS, which recently claimed responsibility for the Paris terror attacks on Nov 13 that killed 127 people.

“Apparently, the children’re frightened of widows and orphans coming into the United States of America as part of our tradition of empathy”, Mr. Obama said on Wednesday, adding a second later: “That doesn’t sound quite tough to me”.

“We will not give in to fear, or start turning on each other, or treating a few people differently because of religion or race or background”, Mr. Obama said at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where he is wrapping up a nine-day trip.

Describing the terror group as “a bunch of killers”, Obama said the IS will not succeed in sowing fear in the minds of the people or make people forget the values they hold.

He’s characterized such moves as reactionary and un-American, and promised to veto new legislation that would place new restrictions on refugees from Iraq and Syria looking to enter the United States. He said America’s function as an worldwide leader was defined by its own willingness to help individuals who have been discriminated against, tortured or subjected to violence.

“That’s American leadership”, Mr. Obama said.

“That’s when we’re the shining light on the hill”, he said.

Mr. Obama is scheduled to return to the United States on Monday, when he is likely to face more discussion about the refugee dilemma.
