Marco Rubio releases national ad on security after Paris attacks
He says it is “a civilizational struggle” and that “there can be no arrangement or negotiation” with IS, “either they win or we do”.
“What happened in Paris could happen here”.
There is no middle ground, he adds.
In the wake of the November 13 Paris attacks that left 130 people dead, the presidential hopeful calls the terrorists “disgruntled or disempowered people”.
“Waterboarding is “peanuts” compared to what they do to us”, Trump said on ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday morning.
Marco Rubio favors keeping any refugees out of the United States who cannot be vetted, he said Sunday there should be “common sense” exceptions.
Rubio’s ad will run nationwide on cable networks.
“This is not a return to Iraq, we’re not talking about 100,000 people or 50,000 armed soldiers, but we are talking about a significant force of special operators that will have be embedded alongside that Sunni Arab coalition that put the USA and this president must put together if we are to beat ISIS on the ground, it’s the only way to do it”, Rubio said.
Speaking with Chris Wallace on “Fox News Sunday”, Rubio cited the attacks when asked about his foreign policy credentials.
Not a lot of daylight there, but Rubio went to great pains to confuse the issue as much as possible, alternating between attacking Obama for being an isolationist wimp and supporting Obama for implementing portions of the ISIS strategy he agreed with.
That “positive development” quip was a little too honest, as was his follow-up statement: “I hope we focus on that more, not just for political advantage, but because the world has become a very risky place”. It’s the Chinese military buildup, it’s Russian aggression, it’s North Korea’s dozens of nuclear warheads, it’s Iran’s desire to acquire a nuclear weapon capability.
“As far as national security, let me just say, I obviously am not happy about the events that happened last week in Paris”, Rubio said.
