Ford recalling cars over gas leak issue
So far, no injuries or fires have been reported from the issue.
“Some of these vehicles might have a canister purge valve that does not work properly, causing internal pressure changes inside the fuel tank”, Ford said in a statement. The “park” position mechanism in the automatic transmission could fracture, potentially causing unintended movement.
Ford is recalling almost a half million cars because of possible fuel leaks, according to the Associated Press.
Even if it’s a small one, any fuel leak presents a viable fire hazard and requires addressing immediately. Registered owners should look for incoming mail related to the recall.
The problem can lead to a cracked gas tank.
About 411,000 of the cars are in the USA, with almost 34,000 in Canada and just over 7,000 in Mexico.
The automaker said it also is recalling 13 2016 F-650 medium-duty trucks in the U.S. for a steering column issue. The steering column and instrument panel will be replaced to fix the issue.
The trucks affected were built at Ohio Assembly Plant from July 29, 2015 through September 3, 2015. Will this recall affect your holiday travels?
