Jimbo Fisher to LSU rumors growing
“At a few point in time there’s a me in this”.
Prior to that, Miles said he wanted to focus on coaching a “great group of young men” in their final home game this weekend against Texas A&M.
Speculation that Miles’ days at LSU are numbered ramped up considerably after the Tigers 38-17 loss to the Ole Miss Rebels in Oxford this past Saturday. “This will always be about our players and the team”.
In fact, after answering a series of questions on his future, Miles politely asked to not be asked about it anymore.
After storming out to a ideal, 7-0 start, LSU has dropped three straight games, putting head coach Les Miles squarely on the hot seat – at least from the perspective of the media and the public. “Tell me when you don’t hear it…” I guess what I’m telling you is that you can have a flat tire for a while. We expect to regroup and get going fast. The extent of the meeting is not known, but there is growing concern on the LSU team that players may be losing their coach in the near future.
“It’s going to be in the paper”.
Miles said he met with his assistants Monday morning.
Miles has a 110-32 record in 11 seasons with the Tigers and has won 10 or more games seven times.
According to Tom D’Angelo of the Palm Beach Post, Fisher issued a no comment and referred to his policy where he says he doesn’t speak about jobs because it’s unfair to everyone and topped that off by saying there’s not even a job as LSU to talk about.
Like Miles, Fisher has already won a National Championship at his Power 5 school and may look to bring his brand of football to the SEC if these rumors end up becoming fact. LSU hadn’t lost three games in succession since 1999.
Miles is being paid a reported $4.4 million per year, making him the ninth-highest-paid coach in the country.
