Donald Trump was fourth GOP debate big victor according to online polls
Overnight Nielsen ratings indicate that the Republican presidential debate hosted by Fox Business Network Tuesday night drew the smallest ratings for a debate we’ve seen this year.
However, a spokeswoman for FBN told CNN Money that the network’s live stream peaked with 1.4 million concurrent viewers, smashing the debate record set by CNN during the Democratic debate.
Fox Business’ audience was just shy of the 14 million that watched the CNBC Republican debate October 28.
After the Fox Business Network/Wall Street Journal debate, which occurred less than 90 days before the Iowa caucuses, the Republican presidential nomination fight is more competitive than ever. Chief among them: immigration.
Frontrunner Donald Trump defended his plan to build a wall along the Mexico border and deport the millions of unauthorized immigrants. “It’s a silly argument”, he pointed out, all too rightly. Ted Cruz received 22 percent, Sen. He has pitched his ideas to average Americans by talking about higher-education reform and a proposed tax credit for families.
Trump first said he believes wages are “too high” during Tuesday night’s Republican debate, undercutting the populist tone Trump has struck on the campaign trail as he’s called for protecting us manufacturing jobs from outsourcing and immigration.
When asked his opinion regarding President Obama’s actions in Syria and Iraq, Carson said “I think in order to make them look like losers, we have to destroy their caliphate”.
Arguably, the debate was more substantive than previous debates and that was partly due to the manner in which the moderators handled the questions to the candidates, but there were plenty of fireworks between the candidates.
The candidates were allowed to dodge a few questions.
Speaking to reporters after a town hall meeting, Bush was asked whether he thinks Rubio, whose relationship with the former Florida governor goes back more than a decade, could beat Clinton next November.
“It was his best debate yet”, one bundler told ABC News.
Billionaire developer Donald Trump says during the prime-time Republican debate that he opposes a $15 minimum wage, enacted Tuesday in his home state, New York. We heard repetitions of his standard stump-speech promises, without much elaboration, and he stepped back when other candidates clashed over, you know, actual policy questions. Overall the debate was an exciting event that enabled each presidential hopeful opportunities to stand out. Carson struggled on foreign policy. Trump had the most outrageous line: “I’m a free trader 100%”. Rubio is a good debater, and he always seems prepared.
Rand Paul, whose low polling numbers barely qualified him for the main stage, had his most active debate yet. But his noninterventionism and skepticism about military spending leaves him out of sync with many voters and activists in his party.
This debate showcased a significant policy debate within the Republican Party when it comes to immigration. Carson didn’t even answer the question; instead, he took the chance to launch into a predicable rant – OK, calling anything that comes out of Dr. Carson’s mouth a “rant” might be a stretch – about the media and Hillary Clinton.
