Pro-ISIS messages painted on rock at Youngstown State University
Officials at Youngstown State University are trying to figure out who painted pro-ISIS messages on a well-known rock.
The slogans include “YSU supports ISIS”, “France deserves destruction” and “We are coming”.
Tirone says the university doesn’t believe the messages indicate any credible threat. “No threats have been validated; no credible threat to campus at this time”, tweeted the school account at 11 a.m. Any info call YSU Police: “330-941-3527”.
“We take those threatening messages very seriously”, Tirone said.
University spokeswoman Shannon Tirone (TEYE’-rohn) says staff discovered the messages when they arrived on campus Monday morning.
“Whether it was serious or just someone pulling a prank – its not something to joke around about”, Brammer said.
Multiple viewers submitted messages to WYTV with photos of the rock, which is located outside the school’s Kilcawley Center and is frequently used to advertise for events on campus.
According to the official Youngstown State University Facebook page, police have been notified.
The woman said she had two children on the campus and they were in fear and now have anxiety over what was seen.
“I think it was a big shock effect when something like that was written on the rock, even if someone thought it was amusing, which it is not”, said student Michael Barkett.
