Suspect sought in shooting of Tulane medical student
A suspect has been identified in Friday’s shooting of “good Samaritan” Tulane Medical School student Peter Gold, New Orleans officials said Sunday. Afterward, the suspect took the woman’s purse and fled the area in a grey or silver SUV.
The woman he helped was not injured.
The suspect police are searching for in the shooting of a New Orleans medical student was identified Sunday as a man with a lengthy rap sheet.
Peter Gold, 25 is critical condition after being show in New Orleans, but the NY Daily News reports police says he’s expected to recover.
“The victim explained to the suspect, repeatedly, that he did not have any cash”, New Orleans Police told the Times-Picayune.
Gold is a fourth-year medical student at Tulane.
The Advocate reported that Gold also was an undergraduate at Tulane majoring in sociology and was active in the university’s Hillel.
“Police said the woman involved in the incident is cooperating with investigators and they don’t believe she had any relation to Cain”, NBC News reports.
‘He is an outstanding student who represents the best of Tulane in every possible way’.
Tulane University officials are offering a $12,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the suspect, according to ABC News.
That’s in addition to a $10,000 reward offered by Tulane University.
He tries to shoot twice more – once attempting an execution-style head shot – but fails because of a gun jam.
Landrieu said anyone who helps Cain elude arrest will be prosecuted. The female victim was treated for minor injuries and released.
Doesn’t surprise me that he would have pulled over his vehicle and attempted to save somebody.
