Parents say baby’s tumor shrinks after pope’s kiss in Philadelphia
Regardless of what changed Gianna’s prognosis, the Masciantonio family is optimistic about Gianna’s future and looks forward to the day they can tell the story of Pope Francis’ live-changing kiss in Philadelphia.
One of the Pope’s bodyguards lifted Gianna out of the crowds to allow the Pope to kiss her on the top of her head. “I think this is all from God”.
Gianna Masciantonio joined her family for the papal parade in front of Independence Hall, where a friend from the Federal Bureau of Investigation arranged for a special kiss, according to CBS 3. “She’s getting better and stronger”, said Kristen.
It’s believed this is not the first miracle believers say has been performed by Pope Francis.
A scan from August shows a visible tumor in the baby’s brain, but it’s hard to detect the tumor in the most recent November scan.
Joey and Kristen Masciantonio say that ever since the kiss, the tumor has shrunk significantly and without explanation. After blood cells attacked Gianna’s brain stem mere weeks after she was born previous year, a tumor developed, and it had come to the point where it was declared to be inoperable. “The pope is a messenger from God”.
The couple went to Philadelphia in late September to see the pontiff and were able to get close to him thanks to a friend in law enforcement. “Last year was about living in honor of her”, said Joey Masciantonio.
