Lovren must prove his worth – Carragher
After subsequently losing his place in the first-team to Mamadou Sakho, Lovren is now set to be given an extended run in the Reds side because of the Frenchman’s injury, and Carragher has admitted the Croatian must make the most of this opportunity.
The defender suffered a knee injury against Crystal Palace at Anfield and while Klopp has said that it is not as serious as previously thought, Sakho is expected to be out until Christmas.
It was first reported that Sakho was to be out of action until January but it seems he could be back before then despite no specific time being given.
Before Saturday’s visit to Manchester City the Liverpool manager has cited that pre-season friendly as evidence of the level the Croatia worldwide can achieve.
“[Henderson] is in a really good way”, Klopp is quoted as saying by the official Liverpool FC website.
“I saw his first game for Liverpool – it was against Dortmund when we lost by four”. I’d heard not the best things about him since but during my time here he’s looked strong and everything is okay.
“Whether he [Klopp] thinks he needs to bring a centre-back in because there aren’t too many options in that position. As long as these two guys are feeling good we don’t have a big problem”.
According to Carragher, there can be no faults and he must make the most of his chance.
“I don’t know what I will do tomorrow when I name the squad”. We will see what’s necessary and what’s not necessary, that’s how we work.
Jamie Carragher says that Dejan Lovren is running out of chances to prove that he is good enough for Liverpool.
“Of course he is not at 100 per cent, so now we will have to see”.
“It will be another chance for him but sooner or later, he needs to take them”.
But with promising young Schalke forward Leroy Sane one of several players being monitored with the January transfer window approaching, Klopp insists he will do transfer business if he’s required to.
