FX Orders Fargo Season Three
TV’s love letter to rural Minnesota isn’t over yet, don’t cha know? No cast or premiere date for Season 3 was announced, but executive producers Hawley, Warren Littlefield, Joel & Ethan Coen, and John Cameron will return. As of now, no details about season three have been released.
The series’ first season was a critical smash and the second season, now mid-way through its run, has got to be a strong contender to pick up more Emmy hardware. Eric Schrier and Nick Grad, Presidents of Original Programming for FX Networks and FX Productions, made the Fargo season three announcement this morning. If Hawley’s work on a show about the X-Men and a Cat’s Cradle limited series continues to develop, he could be in line for an extremely busy 2016. The prolific showrunner, currently under an overall deal with FX Productions, is now set to tackle a third season of his critically-cherished Fargo anthology.
And while FX may have confirmed the news, as well that Hawley would be back holding the reigns, it isn’t clear exactly when Fargo Season 3 might bow. The news also comes soon after word of several cancellations at the network, including The Bastard Executioner, Married and The Comedians. However, season 2 has already proven its worth by staying fresh with a just-as-epic cast. The current one, which ends December 14, features only one returning major character: Lou Solverson, who’s played by a different actor since the new chapter takes place 27 years before the first one. And the second season now ranks as the most-acclaimed series of 2015, per review aggregate Metacritic, averaging a score of 96 out of 100.
