Man Wanted For Theft Of Poppy Donation Box In Etobicoke
Toronto police are looking for the public’s assistance in tracking down a man wanted for the theft of a poppy donation box in Etobicoke.
The video shows the man scanning the business for employees and then reaching over the coffee counter to grab the poppy box.
At about 7:45 p.m. on November 8, police say a man entered a gas station in the 3100 block of 36 Street S.E. and proceeded to the unoccupied till. When he noticed the clerk approaching, he made up an excuse and walked to the north side of the store where there is an attached sandwich shop. The car’s licence plate was from outside Alberta and had blue writing on it. He has a thin build and white hair, and was wearing a dark blue hat and blue sweater at the time.
This brings the total poppy box thefts reported this year to 39, almost double the number from 2014. Three people have been charged with six of the offences.
Police are asking anyone with information about this incident or the identity of the man to call the Calgary Police Service non-emergency line at 403-266-1234, or through Crime Stoppers.
