Is Brock Osweiler The Broncos’ Next Franchise Quarterback?

Osweiler drove the Broncos 74 yards to a touchdown in four plays on their first possession, and the Bears never caught up.

He had a chance to learn from Peyton Manning and made the most of his opportunity when he finally got called on.

Then, Week 10 of the 2015 season came along and Mr. Osweiler got his oppurtunity.

The league’s all-time leader in career touchdown passes and yards, Manning has continued to struggle throughout the season.

The version of Manning on display in Week 10 against the Kansas City Chiefs was painful to watch. Osweiler led a victory on his 25th birthday.

The Denver Broncos came in with a first-time starter at quarterback (Brock Osweiler) and a run game averaging 86 yards per game.

Cornerback Tracy Porter could sense the frustration in the Chicago Bears’ locker room even if there were no major outbursts.

Kubiak also revealed Manning is having a second opinion on his left foot to determine the extent of the injury that kept him out of the Broncos’ 17-15 Week 11 win over the Chicago Bears, per the team’s Twitter account. He did a steady job of controlling the offense and not making silly mistakes.

The Denver Broncos are on to New England this Sunday at Mile High. That will be a tough test for Osweiler as this game could be a playoff preview. If Osweiler prevails, he could take the starting position entirely over Manning. Marcus Mariota is the future of the organization at quarterback, but like Manziel, learning behind Manning for a year or two wouldn’t hurt him. Manning is at senior citizen age for football standards at 39. But the now 21-year-old said he can’t deny, Osweiler held his own.

“I’m told he now intends to play next year, even if it’s not with the Broncos”, Florio said during NBC’s pregame show on Sunday night.

Osweiler stands a towering 6’8 and 240 lb. and looks like a franchise QB.

But he’s not the best quarterback for the Denver Broncos. He has ben mentored by Manning and Broncos GM, John Elway.

Turnovers return. Danny Trevathan’s interception was the Broncos first forced turnover since October 18 against Cleveland. It had been kind of a field goal game. There are many options to choose from.

They could also sign a free agent this offseason to fill the void.

What about if Manning is healthy at a few point before the season? “Today is 100 percent about this team and coaching staff. We played great defense, we didn’t turn the ball over, and we ran the heck out of the football”. And go back to Gary Kubiak and what he wanted to do in the beginning of the season with the play-action game and boot legs, that may be a better fit right now with Brock Osweiler than it was with Peyton. Yesterday we did not protect our quarterback as good as we needed to – I think we had five sacks (and) there’s a couple Brock will learn from, too.
